Hello my lovely people!
I have been in Maseru, Lesotho for about three days. I was traveling mon-thursday to get here, which included three flights, two that I had to get up at 2:30 am for and one that was 15 hours long. At one point I was so disoriented that I couldn't stand up without swaying back and forth. My training group so far is fantastic, there is 16 of us, 6 men and 10 women. The place we are staying at is like a compound with barbed wire all the way around and gaurds 24/7. I got a 3-min phone call home the other day, and am now allowed to go into the city with other PCT's, but not after dark. I've has one language class so far and I really like it, I get to make clicking sounds for "Qu", which I think is cool (shut up Fester). The weather has been really nice and warm, though I hear it gets colder. We've met a lot of other volunteers and they all seem really happy with their sites so most of my anxieties have dissipated. The city of Maseru reminds me of Poland, the streets, sidewalks, shops and apartment buildings look very familiar (I can hear the homeland jokes from Fester already).
We shared pictures last night and it was nice to show off my lovely friends and hometown. I think I need to tone down the "I love B'ham" sentiment 'cause no one really cares that much and I might be getting annoying. So in short, so far so good, this next week we start the real training and it should get more difficult. Please send letters telling me how you are doing, I don't know how often I will escape the compound to get to this Internet cafe.

Bardzo nas cieszy ze pierwszy etap twojej podrozy przebiegl bez wiekszych niespodzianek i przykrych wydazen. Bardzo Cie kochamy i cieszymy sie z kazdej wiadomosci od Ciebie. --- Moze bys tak zmienila swoja fotografie na jednoosobowa bo to troche mylace kto jest kto. Kiedy bedziesz slawna ludzie nie beda wiedzieli ktora z was to Karolina. Pisz jak najwiecej i nie uzywaj brzydkich slow bo ci Bozia jezyk odp...... i to nie przystoi milej panience i nie zwalnia Cie takze "The views expressed on this site..." itd. Mama ma wielka frajde z czytania twoich wypowiedzi i twojej strony na facebook, a ja tez bardzo sie tym ciesze. Kochamy Cie strasznie mocno, ucalowania od Kasi, Marcina i oczywiscie twego szwagra Chris'a.
